I have been a director in the firm since 1999 and am a chartered accountant. I am married with a son and a daughter and my spare time is mostly spent supporting the kids with their sporting interests and hobbies.
Cricket is my favourite sport and while I played it for a number of years I now enjoy watching it and following the kids' cricket. For fitness I enjoy walking. Since entering my first half marathon in 2009 I have completed many events including the 100km Oxfam Trail Blazer in 2011 (25 1/2 hours).
I'm involved in a number of community groups including serving on the NPOB Cricket Club committees, FDMC Board of Trustees and Seniorcare committee.
After completing my bachelor's degree at Waikato University I started working in a chartered accounting firm in Northland in the mid nineties. My family & I moved to Taranaki in 1999. I became a director (partner) in The Accounting Room in 2005. A Chartered Accountant, I am also a Xero Certified Advisor and so can help clients with their online needs. My interests include surfing, running and swimming.
I have been a chartered accountant for 25 years, most of this as a director of a New Plymouth practice. I joined The Accounting Room in 2010 and enjoy working with a wide range of businesses. I particulary enjoy assisting businesses to implement strategies that will improve their performance.
My wife and I have lived in New Plymouth for 30 years and have three adult daughters and four grandchildren. Family is our number one priority and beyond that I enjoy running, gardening and watching most sports.
I joined the team at The Accounting Room in 2005 initially working in the tax area. In 2011 I became the business manager. My strengths lie in administration. Previously I have worked in a Taranaki law firm for 10 years, the hospital for 6, and also the Ministry of Justice.
I also take care of the requirements at the Companies Office for our clients, including setting up and incorporating a company, changes to directorship and shareholdings, and annual returns. I prepare company documents and other general administration work within the firm. My interests include my family, watching rugby, going to the beach and playing bridge.
My role in reception is varied from answering the phone to processing GST & PAYE returns for clients. I also prepare Financial Statements and have worked in the accounting industry since leaving school, mostly working along side Anthony.
Family plays a large part in my life. I am married with a son at high school and daughter at intermediate. In my spare time I enjoy spending time at the beach, bike riding, walking, gardening and watching the children playing basketball, hockey and surfing.
After graduating from high school, I started working in a Chartered Accountants office in Stratford in 1997 before moving to this firm in 2005. I completed the New Zealand Diploma in Business in 2010. I qualified as an Accounting Technician with the Chartered Accountants Australia-New Zealand in 2012. I continued on with studying and completed the Bachelor of Business Studies majoring in Accounting. In April 2016 I became an Associate Chartered Accountant.
I prepare financial statements, income tax returns, GST returns and PAYE returns for a diverse range of clients. I am also a MYOB Approved Partner, so I can help assist clients with their MYOB accounting software.
My interests are Scottish Country Dancing, speedway, cross stitch and reading.
I have worked in the accounting industry for over 20 years, both in corporate and chartered accountancy positions and have a Bachelor of Business Studies. I have been contracting to The Accounting Room since 2000 and decided to join the inhouse team in 2011.
I am married with two daughters. We live in a lifestyle block, which is home to some beefies, some old racehorses, and my daughters' ponies. Most weekends see me out and about towing the float to various pony club events. As a family, we enjoy a lot of sports (as couch potatoes) and especially enjoy thoroughbred racing.
I am an Associate Chartered Accountant and joined the firm in February 2013. I actually love accounting because I enjoy dealing with clients and the variety of work (from commercial to farming ) is challenging and job satisfying. Helping clients and team members is very rewarding for me and clients are my focus.
Outside of accounting, my interests are exercise, fashion, travelling and home/family life. My spare time is spent with family and close friends.
I moved to New Zealand in 2001 from Zimbabwe. I was in Auckland for a year before moving to New Plymouth.
I have been working in the Accounting Industry for the last 20 years and joined The Accounting Room in April 2006. I prepare financial statements, GST returns & income tax returns for a range of industries including rental properties, commercial & hospitality.
I completed the NZ Diploma in Business Studies in 2002 before embarking on an accounting career. I have been employed by The Accounting Room since 2006 and am well versed in their accounting systems. I handle the Banklink queries for our clients.
I am married with two active kids and play tennis and badminton on a regular basis.
In 2010 our family moved to New Plymouth from South Africa. We love Taranaki and cannot dream of a better place to stay. We call it Paradise!
We have three children, one in Primary, one in Intermediate and another in High School. I love biking, swimming, gardening and interior decorating. Although finding time to do these is few and far between!!
In 1999 I started my career in accounting and IT where I was part owner in a Data Capturing Bureau until 2010. At that time I was also involved in Stock Management of our family owned Pub & Restaurant until Sept 2001. In May 2013 to November 2013 I temped in an administration role before joining The Accounting Room.
My key roles include Principle Xero Advisor, Bank Reconciliations, Debtors, Creditors, Payroll, Annual and Interim Reports, Tax Returns and GST Returns.
I am a certified bookeeping member of NZBAI and currently completing my New Zealand Accounting Diploma, also holding certifcations in Xero, WorkflowMax, PHP, MySQL and XHTML.
I am married and have Senior Citizen Status with two married daughters and six grandchildren. My experience has been generated from 16 years in banking, 18 years as a company accountant, financial controller, company secretary and general management roles, 6 years as an insurance agent in Life, Superannuation and Fire and General fields, and 10 years in chartered accountancy preparing returns for rentals, farming, trusts, Small and Medium business accounting.
I joined The Accounting Room in April 2009 and my outside interests are family, golf and fishing.
I started working for The Accounting Room in April 2011. Previously I worked for the IRD for 17 years and then the last 11 years for local commercial businesses. I manage the tax system and am responsible for sending out all those nasty tax bills. I also backup the Receptionist.
I enjoy a variety of sports including running, walking, pilates and golf.
Debbie CookeAfter 15 years at the IRD undertaking various roles with a focus on debt collection, I thought it was time for a change. I took a year off work to spend time with my family and to renovate our house. I joined The Accounting Room in July on a part time basis as a receivables officer, which I am thoroughly enjoying. Great work/life balance.
My family is my top priority and I enjoy travelling, reading and spending time on the beach when the Taranaki weather allows.
I have been involved with office work all my working career and started working with The Accounting Room in 2006. My role within the company is attending to the filing and archiving.
My husband and I have lived in New Plymouth all our lives and we have an adult family of two. My interests include walking, indoor and outdoor bowls, Scottish County Dancing and spending time with family and friends.
